@j. coleman miller: =)) good one :)) no, i didn't burn the carpet with the experimenting, i burnt it with the floodlight... it gets really hot if you use it for more than a few minutes so i deposit it on the carpet. now usually it doesn't get hot enough but apparently this time it did...

oh and trust me i've got some pretty neat ideas coming. i just gotta find a pure black background :)

i've seen what you sent me there but apparently he had the same problem as me (the photo is out of focus). i shot about 160 frames of which 100 were poorly focused...(smoke constantly shifts plane, especially at this distance focusing is... tough). also i see he underexposed a bit, you kinda need about 1/250 and a small aperture to capture smoke. if you want to learn about this check out photojojo, they have a few cool tips as to how to get this just right..
