well you know i would have liked to see more red in the sky >:) , to give the impresion of iminent fog danger :D, like a radioactive cloud ...
OR .. to see the bright side, you can turn everything in a bright green and everybody will feel the calm and peace :P
the composition is really good by the way

@zoloper: hehe, i tried a partial desat and trust me that sky, nothing but film could've gotten something better out of it...

+ To be frank and without any flattering, I think you have done a very good job. Making a good picture from a cloudy day shot is not easy for me.
- 1 tiny critique: You could have removed/prevented that pink cloud (top of the frame.)

@Shuva Brata Deb: hey, don't hold back, and while i may try to defend the image know that i appreciate any criticism :) as for the little cloud... umm yeah i think i caused it :)) i mean the sky just looked so damn... boring that i thought a touch of colour would add to it. and if it really is pink, it's just my overlooking when i did the desat. won't happen again :) thanks for pointing it out and thanks for the visit.
@Zing: thanks zing, i just tried to use blending modes in cs and got to this interesting partial desat effect. it was pretty much just an experiment and i;m glad it caught on. in fact, from the moment i took this photo i wanted something bw...

@Nick Passantino: i'm really starting to feel that shooting when it's overcast is a bad idea for landscapes.. thanks nick, i tried a cliche shot of the mountain lodge and got.. well i see you guys like it so yey :)

I think that your experiment has provided a very interesting image. Yes, there is a bit of pink sky, but that doesn't hurt the overall. Yes, if you did it again, you might want to remove that one thing. But even so, I like the mix of color and bw tones; these form a creative dissonance that just looks like simultaneously playing a major and minor key on the piano might sound (if that makes any sense) as part of a larger harmony.

@Viewfinder: thank you my friend, your comment is very interesting. it's an interesting way to describe a photo and while i can't really relate to the musical terms. but i do understand the idea and i must thank you both for the compliment and the time to write such a long and insightful comment.

I like the desaturated image, and I like the subject too. It makes me miss Colorado, and the glorious Rocky Mountains.

@travelingrant: it was serendipity if you want. i made the bw adjustment layer a bit too bright on the lodge and after changing the blend mode got this partial desat.
and why do you miss colorado? where do you travel to? but then again, we all miss home...

@travelingrant: Yeah, I failed to look at youl location. but still, why miss it? can't you visit? or move back or something? and isn't Japan great in itself? well, anyway, don't worry, i'm sure some day you'll get back to colorado mate :)
